Blazar Remus Anamorphic Lenses

I’ve recently delved into anamorphic filming and purchased some Blazar Remus lenses - budget lenses that do so much at a low budget - I’m sure if you are used to the Hollywood lenses you could tell the differences but for the price, wow I just feel they have changed my filming so much! I feel like even on the FX3, I’m getting some really amazing results.

I have two short films int he works right now which I am editing and I feel the lenses have completely changed how I film and what I think I can achieve.

Using normal spherical lenses, I could never reach this filmic quality before. I feel I want to use the lenses on all sort of projects now and it has given me ambition to try a few ideas out over the next year.

A new film I am working on - featuring ballet dancers.

For now, these are the two screen grabs I shall share for my new films but below you can see the results from a recent test shoot I did. Anamorphic lenses were made to achieve wider aspect ratios using the confines of 35mm film by squeezing the image the sides of the image. When you want to view it, you desqueeze it and it comes out wider, with a much more hazy and softer feel than a circular lens. This isn’t always practical, but now these lenses are a bit cheaper than they used to be, with more budget versions about, you will start to see this more and more, even for social videos.
